CBC MISSION

Since its inception before World War II, Chicago Building Congress has served to meet the needs of its variegated membership by providing continuing education and ongoing opportunities to associate with one another for the exchange of information and to nourish business relationships.

Chicago Building Congress hosts monthly membership luncheon meetings from September through June each year. These meetings most often feature guest speakers on topics of current interest to the Chicago Building Industry...the projects, plans, and pressing topics of the day that everyone in the industry needs to know about.
 
Two of the monthly meetings, the Merit Awards Program and the Award of Honor Program, are devoted to recognizing the projects and people who make the Chicago Building Industry great.
 
By fulfilling these roles, Chicago Building Congress is truly the cornerstone of Chicago's building industry, for it brings together a dynamic membership and timely programming.


CBC MEMBERSHIP

CBC members include real estate professionals, builders, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, engineering firms, architects, labor unions, units of government, and providers of essential services to the industry, such as financial institutions, insurance providers, consultants, print media companies, law firms, and accounting firms.
 

CBC ACTIVITIES

 Educational and Public Policy Programs 
CBC brings together key players in Chicago's Building Industry with stimulating educational programs that synergize and motivate the membership. 

A Forum and Contact Point
CBC acts as a forum for exchanging ideas and making contacts within the industry through monthly networking opportunities at luncheon meetings.
 
Opportunities to Meet Leaders of the Chicago Building Industry
CBC sponsors programs that encourage communication among professionals in the Building Industry. Its speakers include leading experts in architecture, engineering, developers, contracting, and services to the Building Industry. 

Voice of the Industry
Chicago Building Congress promotes the industry through continuous press releases and liaison with the media, who also frequently attend CBC functions. 

Recognition of Outstanding Projects
Each year, CBC presents "Merit Awards" to honor outstanding Chicago projects in four categories: New Construction (Chicago), New Construction (Suburbs), Rehab Construction, and Construction Under $10 Million.

  • Contacts available at monthly meetings, social events and committee assignments can help the active member become well acquainted with a wide cross section of the Chicago Building Industry.

  • CBC brings together key members of the Building Industry to participate in educational programs that continuously educate and inform the building community at monthly membership meetings.

  • All members are listed in the annual CBC Directory, which is also published on-line at the CBC Web Site. All members are elilible to purchase optional advertising in the Directory as well. The Directory is not only a useful reference and a functional marketing tool, it is kept and used by members for an entire year at a time.

  • Members receive substantial discounts on monthly meeting fees, Merit Award Nomination Fees, and other CBC offerings.
